Overview

The RIIMPO326E - Conduct Water Vehicle Operations course equips participants with the skills and knowledge needed to safely and efficiently operate a water vehicle, commonly used in construction, mining, and civil works. This nationally accredited course emphasizes essential techniques for managing bulk water trucks and adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Participants will gain practical experience and theoretical understanding, enabling them to perform tasks such as loading, hauling, and distributing water, along with conducting vehicle inspections and maintenance.

Content

Introduction to Water Vehicle Operations

  • Understand the roles and applications of water vehicles in different industries.

  • Learn workplace documentation and operational procedures.

  • Identify potential hazards and implement control measures.

Pre-Operational Checks

  • Perform pre-start and start-up inspections of water vehicles.

  • Detect and address mechanical faults or report them as needed.

Water Vehicle Operation

  • Drive and maneuver vehicles in various site conditions.

  • Manage water distribution to meet operational requirements.

  • Optimize engine performance and gear selection for smooth operation.

Loading and Distributing Water

  • Safely load water vehicles within capacity limits.

  • Distribute water to meet worksite needs while minimizing risks.

  • Handle different site conditions such as inclines, uneven surfaces, and tight spaces.

Housekeeping and Maintenance

  • Clear and maintain work areas post-operation.

  • Complete documentation as per workplace requirements.

  • Perform basic maintenance to keep vehicles operational.

Safety and Emergency Procedures

  • Follow PPE guidelines and site-specific safety protocols.

  • Respond effectively to emergencies such as equipment failures or accidents.

Entry Requirements

To participate in the course when you arrive, you must:

  • Provide Photo ID

  • Provide your Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number

  • Wear required PPE detailed below

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Enclosed steel-cap or other suitable work boots

  • Suitable work shorts or pants

  • Hi-vis shirt or vest

* Your participation in the course may be cancelled or postponed if PPE requirements are not met.


Course Completion

Upon successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Participants will be able to:

  • Safely operate water vehicles in compliance with industry standards.

  • Perform pre-operational and maintenance checks to ensure equipment safety.

  • Effectively load, haul, and distribute water as per site requirements.

  • Navigate diverse work environments while maintaining vehicle stability.

  • Apply emergency procedures and report incidents appropriately.

Expiration

Certification does not have a specific expiry; however, employers may require periodic refreshers to ensure ongoing compliance with workplace safety standards.
