The RIIMPO338E – Conduct Rigid Haul Truck Operations course is a nationally accredited program tailored for individuals working in civil construction, coal mining, metalliferous mining, and extractive industries. This training equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to safely and effectively operate rigid haul trucks for tasks such as loading, transporting, and dumping materials. It emphasizes adherence to safety protocols and efficient equipment handling in diverse operational settings.

Content

Introduction to Rigid Haul Truck Operations

  • Overview of rigid haul trucks and their applications in various industries.

  • Understanding truck components and operational functions.

  • Identifying risks and hazards associated with rigid haul truck use.

Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Requirements

  • Compliance with WHS standards specific to haul truck operations.

  • Understanding workplace policies and safety measures.

  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Pre-Operational Procedures

  • Conducting thorough pre-start inspections to ensure equipment safety.

  • Identifying and reporting mechanical faults or safety issues.

  • Performing routine maintenance checks for operational efficiency.

Rigid Haul Truck Operation Skills

  • Safe maneuvering of rigid haul trucks in diverse conditions.

  • Effective loading and unloading techniques.

  • Transporting materials while maintaining load stability and safety.

Environmental and Terrain Adaptation

  • Operating on uneven terrain, slopes, and restricted spaces.

Entry Requirements

To participate in the course when you arrive, you must:

  • Provide Photo ID

  • Provide your Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number

  • Wear required PPE detailed below

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Enclosed steel-cap or other suitable work boots

  • Suitable work shorts or pants

  • Hi-vis shirt or vest

* Your participation in the course may be cancelled or postponed if PPE requirements are not met.


Course Completion

Upon successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Participants will be able to:

  • Safely operate rigid haul trucks in compliance with industry standards.

  • Conduct pre-operational checks and report any mechanical or safety issues.

  • Transport and dump materials efficiently while ensuring load stability.

  • Adapt operations to varying terrains and environmental conditions.

  • Respond effectively to emergencies and follow safety reporting procedures.

Expiration

Certification does not have a specific expiry; however, employers may require periodic refreshers to ensure ongoing compliance with workplace safety standards.
