Living in remote communities can present all manner of challenges for residents meeting their basic needs as well as their economic aspirations. Water, energy, housing, and telecommunications often require innovative solutions tailored to specific community circumstances. To determine the right solution, and deliver the best possible outcome requires effective community engagement, and local capacity building. This has been at the heart of CAT’s work since our establishment in 1980.

We believe the best outcomes for communities, service providers and funders arise when community residents themselves are in a position to make informed decisions about matters affecting their lives, and provided with the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to ensure greater self-reliance.
